| Montgomery Bell State Park |
| Montgomery Bell State Park is located about 45 minutes west of Nashville near Dickson, TN. This area was originally used to mine iron ore, but is now a relaxing, beautiful park nestled in the Middle Tennessee Hills. Montgomery Bell is also the site where the Cumberland Presbyterian Church was founded. Camping Montgomery Bell has a nice camping area with electrical hookups, picnic tables, a campfire area, water access and clean bathhouses. The campsites are spacious and offer a relaxed atmosphere. RV and tents are allowed. Some of the campsites are beside a flowing creek, and these are our favorites. Group Camping is also available at the park. Inn The Inn is one of the nicest in the Tennessee Parks System. An indoor pool, jacuzzi, cable t.v., exercise room, full service restaurant, and a seasonal outdoor pool make this a wonderful choice. The inn has conference facilities, and each of the 120 rooms and 5 suites has a view of Lake Acorn. 8 private cottages are available. Fishing Fishing is available on the 3 lakes located within the park. Private boats are allowed on Lake Woodhaven year round, and on Lake Acorn from September 15- May 15. Gasoline motors are not allowed. Boat rental is available at the park. Make sure to check fishing laws and park regulations before fishing. Hiking Montgomery Bell offers some great hiking opportunities. From a short nature walk at the nature center to an 11.7 mile overnight trail, there is something for all hikers. The Montgomery Bell Trail travels past beautiful hardwood forests, lakes, streams, and is a lesson on the history of the area. Click here for more information on hiking at Montgomery Bell. Golf Montgomery Bell has one of the finest golf courses in Middle Tennessee. The heavily wooded course is challenging and beautiful. Click here for more information. Swimming Swimming is available on a public beach on the shore of Acorn Lake. We really like the volleyball net across part of the area. No lifeguards are on duty. |
